Hike 1: Arenas de Cabrales – Poncebos – Tielve – Poncebos
Our first day in the Picos de Europa eased us gently into the mountains with rivers of icy blue water, quiet valley trails, butterflies, mountain-top lunches and a refreshing swim beneath towering peaks. A beautiful reminder that sometimes the best adventures begin with taking the slower route and trusting what lies around the next bend.
Travel Day
A long travel day from the coast to the mountains, complete with early morning bag repairs, Barcelona traffic, airport coffees and plenty of laughter. As the peaks of the Picos de Europa came into view, so did the excitement for the adventure ahead. A story about travel, family, recalculating ambitious hiking plans and the joy of exploring the mountains with my mum.
